What is The Forge Ore Depth Finder?

The Ore Depth Finder is an essential tool for The Forge Roblox players who want to optimize their mining strategy. This interactive calculator helps you determine which ores are available at your current mining depth, or find the optimal depth range to mine specific ores you need for crafting.

In The Forge, different ores spawn at specific depth ranges. Common ores like Stone and Coal are found near the surface (0-50m), while rare ores like Mithril (400-700m), Demonite (600-900m), and Luminite (1000-1200m) require reaching extreme depths. Understanding these depth ranges is crucial for efficient resource gathering.

Our depth finder is based on extensive gameplay data and community research. It provides accurate depth ranges for all 13 ore types in the game, helping you plan your mining expeditions and avoid wasting time at incorrect depths. This tool is trusted by thousands of The Forge players for optimizing their mining efficiency.

How to Use The Ore Depth Finder

Method 1: Search by Depth

If you know your current mining depth, use this method to find all available ores:

  1. Enter your current depth in meters (0-1200m) in the "Current Depth" field
  2. Click "Find Ores at This Depth"
  3. The tool will display all ores that spawn within your depth range, including their rarity and exact depth spans

Example: If you're at 500m, you'll see Platinum (250-500m), Mithril (400-700m), and potentially Gold (150-400m) if you're near the upper range.

Method 2: Search by Ore

If you need a specific ore for crafting, use this method to find the best depth:

  1. Select the ore you need from the dropdown menu
  2. Click "Find Best Depth"
  3. The tool will show the optimal depth range, rarity, and recommendations for mining that ore

Example: If you need Demonite for a Legendary weapon, the tool will tell you to mine at 600-900m depth, and recommend using the Arcane Pickaxe for efficient extraction.

Using the Quick Reference Chart

The quick reference chart at the bottom shows all ores sorted by minimum depth. This is useful for planning your mining route - you can see that you should mine Copper and Iron first (25-150m), then progress to Gold and Silver (100-400m), and finally aim for rare ores like Mithril and Demonite at deeper levels.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are ore depth ranges exact, or can ores spawn outside these ranges?

The depth ranges shown are the primary spawn ranges where each ore is most commonly found. While ores can occasionally spawn slightly outside these ranges (especially at the boundaries), the ranges represent the optimal depths where you'll find the highest concentration of each ore type. For example, Mithril primarily spawns at 400-700m, but you might occasionally find it at 380m or 720m.

What pickaxe do I need for deeper ores?

For ores at depths above 500m, a basic Iron Pickaxe or Golden Pickaxe is sufficient. However, for rare ores like Mithril (400-700m), Demonite (600-900m), and Luminite (1000-1200m), we strongly recommend the Arcane Pickaxe. The Arcane Pickaxe provides +200% mining speed and 100% luck chance, making it essential for efficiently gathering rare materials. You can obtain it by completing Bard's Lost Guitar quest.

Can I find multiple ores at the same depth?

Yes! Many depth ranges overlap, allowing you to find multiple ore types at the same depth. For example, at 150m, you can find Iron (50-150m), Silver (100-300m), and Gold (150-400m) simultaneously. This makes certain depth ranges particularly valuable for gathering diverse materials. Use the "Search by Depth" feature to see all available ores at your current location.

What's the best strategy for mining efficiently?

The most efficient strategy is to plan your mining route based on your crafting goals. First, use our Forging Calculator to determine which ores you need. Then, use this depth finder to identify the optimal depth ranges. Start with shallower ores (Copper, Iron) to craft basic equipment, then progress deeper for rare materials. Always bring the Arcane Pickaxe for depths above 400m to maximize efficiency.

How accurate is this depth finder?

Our depth finder is based on extensive gameplay data collected from thousands of mining sessions and verified against in-game mechanics. The depth ranges have been tested and confirmed by experienced players. While minor variations may occur due to game updates, the ranges provided are highly accurate and trusted by the The Forge community.

Do I need different pickaxes for different ores?

While technically you can mine most ores with basic pickaxes, rarity and depth determine efficiency. Common ores (Stone, Coal, Copper) can be mined with a Stone Pickaxe or Iron Pickaxe. Uncommon and Rare ores (Iron, Gold, Silver) work best with an Iron Pickaxe or better. Epic and Legendary ores (Mithril, Demonite, Adamantite) require the Arcane Pickaxe for reasonable mining speed. Mythical ores like Luminite absolutely require the Arcane Pickaxe due to their extreme depth (1000-1200m).
